This is a blog for all who love organ improvisation, all who know how to improvise, and all who want to learn to improvise. All are invited to share their thoughts about improvisation. Links to cool improvisations (Youtube, etc.) are really welcome as well!

Hi all,
Here's a question for you: when things are going really, really well in your improvisation, why exactly is that happening for you? I continue to wrestle with the unpredictable nature of inspiration! What are your observations?
It feels a bit transcendental. I feel very relaxed and delight in what I hear, it's as if for a moment I'm a vehicle, channeling a higher, more indescribable force. It reminds me of the Grapelli quote in the introduction to your book, Jeff. I am sure that great improvisers can dwell in that "space" for an extended period of time. That space of ecstasy and sublimity.
